Instructions
for the EasyGrid System.
|
|
| |
- PREPARE
THE OPENING AS SHOWN IN THE DRAWING
- Cover
the roof with felt.Including between the skylights.
- Shingle the
roof up to the bottom of the rough opening.
|
| |
- REMOVAL
OF THE FLANGE
- Pull the
skylights out of the boxes and position them on the floor glass
side down with the flat flange facing you.
- Using a hack
saw cut the top and bottom flange to align with the second or
inner most score mark on the side flange. (NOTE remove the right
hand side of one skylight and the left hand side of the other)
- Using pliers(duck
bills work best) break off the flange at the inner most score
mark. This works best if you work the pliers up and down several
times.
- Remove any
burrs from the breaks so the flanges can set flush against each
other.
- Use the removed
portion of the flange to mark and drill installation holes on
the center flange.
|
| |
- INSTALLATION
OF THE SKYLIGHT
- Apply a 3½"
wide strip of sealant/mastic around the entire opening. Be sure
to apply sealant between the skylights.(Sealant applied too close
to the roof opening may "ooze into the into the tunnel when skylight
is set into place.)
- Center both
skylights over the openings, making sure the center most flanges
touch.
- Nail the
skylights into place using the 1¼" galvanized nails provided.
- Seal the
head of each fastener with silicone or the sealant used to install
the skylight.
|
| |
- SHINGLING
- Continue
to shingle up the sides and across the top of the skylights. Place
the shingles over the flanges of the skylight and as close to
the sides of the skylight as possible. Be careful not to nail
through the flanges of the skylight.
|
| |
- SEALING
THE CENTER FLANGE
- The groove
formed where the skylights touch should be filled with a bead
of silicone.
- The snap
cover comes cut and turned down on both ends. Position the snap
cover flush with the shingles at the top for the skylight and
snap into place.
- Form a water
tight seal between the snap cover and the top shingle. IMPORTANT,
DO NOT seal the bottom of the snap cover. See drawing.
